Join us in celebrating 10 years of the Public Health program at Augustana College with a special lecture and reception. Dr. Alan Bridges ’79, a distinguished professor of medicine at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, will deliver a lecture titled “Botulism and COVID-19: Common Threads.”

Dr. Bridges will share insights from his pivotal role during the 1983 botulism outbreak in Peoria, Ill. — the third largest in U.S. history. He will also discuss his experience as the medical incident commander for the VA Great Lakes Health Care System during the COVID-19 pandemic, where he directed the medical response for eight VA hospitals across central Illinois to Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. Dr. Bridges is also a 2023 recipient of the Augustana College Alumni Association Outstanding Achievement Award.

Following the lecture, you are invited to stay for a reception and departmental open house. Desserts and refreshments will be provided.

This event is generously sponsored by Dr. John O'Connor ’79 in honor of his brother, the late Dr. Richard O'Connor, Jr. ’72.

Registration is no longer available because the registration deadline has passed.
